We live in Miami, so you'd think it would be easy to get fresh seafood. No, that's just not how this crazy world works. But for locals who love pescado, Paco Fernando's Blue Runner Seafood truck -- parked on the side of Biscayne Boulevard just north of Miami Shores -- has stepped in to fill the void.

It sounds fishy (excuse the pun), but the stand is busy with loyal followers who keep coming back for more thanks to reasonable prices and, most important, top-quality seafood that Paco distributes to Miami restaurant staples such as Oggi Caffe, Paquitos, and Red Koi.

"This is great to have something close by," said Surfside resident Maria Perez, who elicited a slew of car horns as she slammed on her breaks to duck into the parking lot where Paco's truck was stationed. "I've seen the sign a few times now and have been dying to check it out, I used to have to drive all the way to the port for fresh seafood."

Paco and his wife Barbara are religiously stationed every Saturday and Sunday in the Waggle Brothers Pet Spa parking lot selling stone crab (medium, $13 lb.; large, $18 lb.; jumbo, $23 lb.; colossal, $28 lb.) , whole snapper ($5.50/lb.), shrimp (Large, $5.95 lb.; XL $8.5 lb.), and Mahi Mahi ($11.50 lb.).

The pair hails from Cuba and has been fish mongering for more than 30 years. Come early and often to get the freshest Blue Runner has to offer, and we'll promise you that you'll have the most memorable stone crab season this year.
