Drink Specials Tonight for Miami Live Music Month

Not much goes better with live music than drinks, cheap drinks, and plenty of them. A handful of bars and venues participating in Miami Live Music Month are offering two-for-one drink specials every Friday until November 30.

Forty-five venues across Miami-Dade are hosting live acts during the month of November. Fourteen of them are offering the specials, including Bougainvillea's Old Florida Tavern, Grand Central, Tobacco Road and Ricochet Bar & Lounge. Check out the full list of venues and those offering specials.

This year is the third installment of the event, organized The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. Things kicked off Nov. 3 at a New Times sponsored party at Grand Central with the all-female Swedish Electro band Icona Pop with Afrobeta and Radioboxer.

The month-long celebration of Miami's ever-improving live music scene got off to a rocky start back in 2009, when it coincided with a Miami Music Festival. The festival was runby New York-based music entrepreneur Irwin Kornfeld, and done in partnership with the convention and visitors bureau.

The three-day event that took place during live music month in its infancy was criticized as being overpriced, disorganized and not representative of Miami's burgeoning arts scene.

That's all in the past. Venues like Grand Central have been pulled into the fold, and we're hoping next year even more will offer specials in hopes of drawing larger crowds.
