South Miami's popular craft beer outpost, Cervezas, is now under the ownership of another local drinking den - Bougainvillea's Old Florida Tavern. The acquisition announcement was made via the two bars' Facebook pages last night.

The news was met with surprise by fans of the popular craft beer joint, which has been around since 2009.

The announcement on the Cervezas page read as follows: "Due to unfortunate & unforeseeable events our time w/ u has come to an end & w/ every end there is a new beginning! Its been amazing & we appreciate each & every one of you! With so much love & many memories, the Cervezas Crew ♥ Jessie, Scott & Carlos ♥"

Meanwhile, Bougainvillea's posted: "We are proud to announce that Bougie'S has added Cervezas South Miami to our family. This is a very exciting time for us and we are looking forward to sharing it with you. Cervezas will be closed today, but please stay tuned for more info. Cervezas will continue to offer South Miami's best beer selection and we can't wait to pour YOU a cold one!"

Despite some negative comments, the Bougies crew worked to keep spirits high, and promised that Cervezas would retain its current charms.

Will Ambros: "Seriously, on behalf of all that went there and the few of us that worked there, don't fuck it up. It's in your best interest to keep it all going on as it was. We all worked damn hard over the past few years on that place. Don't fuck it up."

Bougainvillea's Old Florida Tavern: "Bougie's acquired Cervezas because we LOVE what it is. We want to continue focusing on the things that we and the current patrons love about it."

Stay tuned for updates on the acquisition.

While I sincerely hate the fact that my good friends lost what they loved and created, if the bar had to be sold, Bougs would be the best buyer. They have a history of success and a smart staff and ownership that had previously dabbled in craft beer quite successfully. Just don't screw it up, Bougs. Beer folk are a bit different than your usual clientele. Keep it right for them. Don't muck it up.

Eddie, I meant that as sarcasm. Even though they'll always pull in the stuff that's in distribution (assuming they listen to their Brown Distributing rep), I don't know if they'll be able to pull those harder-to-find kegs of awesome craft beer that place was known for. Guses we'll just have to wait and see. Dale, huh? I'm assuming you meant Oskar Blues (Dale's Pale Ale is their most popular offering).

Chard. Blue Moon isn't a craft beer. But have you checked out Bougies ever changing Craft Beer menu? They usually have about 10 options on it. #9 has been on it, might still be on it? Right now they are serving 3 or 4 selections from Dale. They usually have a Stone Brewery option. And honestly can't remember what else they have listed this week.

The people that own and run Bougs are running a successful establishment. They know what works and what doesn't for South Miami. The staff is friendly, the drinks are more than fairly priced, and I've yet to pay a cover for anything! They have a niche market and craft beers is not a product suited to a small tavern where liquor sales take precedence. What better way to get into that market than acquire a nearby craft beer business that's been nothing but successful? I don't see this turning into Bougi's 2. I hope Boug's keeps the knowledgeable & friendly Cervezas staff and listens to them regarding what and what not to order for inventory, what events work on what nights, what kind of a crowd they ultimately want for the place, etc. Best of luck!!

Blue Moon and Magic Hat #9 will be touted as edgy craft beers there.

My guess is that Cervezas will become friendlier and feel more like home. Thomas Alexander has no idea what he's talking about. Typical Overpriced Miami bars? Bougies is far from it. Brian also doesn't know Bougies specials either. Yuengling at half off, Flor de Cana at half off, Bacardi Specials, Jager specials, Happy Hours that last all of Wednesday. et al...

Yes, much luck to the Bougie family and even more well wishes to Carlos and the Cervezas crew on their future endeavors!

Happy to see that bougie's is alive somewhere, but it's a damn shame too... there aren't enough good local bars in S. MIA

probably become your typical Miami overpriced obnoxious bar

my guess would be overly loud bad music, bud light specials, and a crew that has no idea what they're talking about.
