Acropolis is bring Greek cuisine (and belly dancing) to the Grove.

Coconut Grove residents get ready for an influx of belly dancing, live Greek music, flowing rivers of ouzo, and fresh seafood.
Acropolis Taverna, the Florida-based small chain of Greek tavernas is planning on opening in Coconut Grove sometime late winter.

The restaurant will be located on Main Highway, between GreenStreet Cafe and the Coconut Grove Playhouse, adjacent to the soon-to-open Hoops.

The restaurant, which has locations in New Tampa, Ybor City, Riverview, and St. Petersburg, is bringing authentic Greek cuisine, Greek wines, and an extensive bar menu to the Grove.

General manager Deano Kastis is looking forward to bringing his authentic Greek food to Florida's east coast. "We're hoping this becomes your second home," Kastis told Short Order.

Menu items are well-priced and include traditional favorites like mousaka ($12); dolmades stuffed grape leaves ($12); kabob platters ($14-16); avgolemono Greek chicken and lemon soup ($4); and pastitsio ($12). In addition, a large variety of fresh seafood will be offered, as well as lighter sandwiches, salads, and wraps.

Acropolis will be open for lunch and dinner. We're looking forward to the belly dancing!
