José Andrés Tweets Graphic Photo of Dead Game, Responds to His Followers' Disapproval

JoseAndresDeer.jpeg
José Andrés drew much criticism today after Tweeting a graphic photo of dead deer and wild boars. The caption of the photo, which shows a pool of blood in the background, read "A good hunting day! Un buen dia de Caza."

Almost immediately, his followers fired back with messages of insensitivity, some even tagging PETA's Twitter handle.

Two hours after the photo surfaced, he posted an apology and a counter argument for his critics.

See the photo after the jump.

Seeing this didn't make his fans happy.

In the Tweet below, Davide Salegna says, "So they're killing animals for sport!?? How disgusting."

Andrés responded with this message:

"If I offended anyone, I'm sorry," he says. "I wanted to provoke this. Thousands of children die from starvation everyday and no one gets offended."

It may be that the The Bazaar's creator was just trying to provoke the issue of child hunger, but a photo of bloody dead game seems like a strange way to do it. That being said, "child starvation" looks like a humanitarian scapegoat for dead deer damage control.

They are more upset by the glee he seems to show along with the pik of these slaughtered creatures than their function as food. Billions of people consume their burgers and sausages and steaks but don't want to see the reality of dead bodies of cows and pigs hanging by meat hooks in blood soaked slaughterhouses. I don't blame them as far as that goes.

yeah motherfucker, put your motherfucking money where your mouth is. I've done my bit for king and country. 25% for uncle sam 10% for the church 15% for various charities. If every rich douchebag would do this, there would be no starvation. Sure there would be poverty, but not starvation.

If the man wants to hunt animals, let him. PETA as an organization has lost an shred of creditably after a long history repeated publicity stunts. I personally don't care if you want to weep for a bunch of dead deer or boar. Who is to say if he's wrong? He's doesn't need to pander to a bunch of people outside his demographic as a chef. As for the world hunger bit, it's transparent excuse he's using to deflect any criticism for that image.

I never want to be a celebrity. Your entire existence is pandering to the masses. Better to live life with no fear, no apologies and no regrets. In short, fuck' em.

He was saying that kids die of hunger and yet no one is outraged at that.

Who cares what people do legally.... And that does look like a good day of hunting for those who hunt for sport. I don't hunt at all but this doesn't offend me at all its his right to do so. His mistake was responding to an excuse of helping the hunger of starving children. He shouldn't have had to explain himself because that was a weak explanation.

if jose andres wants to highlight child hunger, there are much better ways to do it. #fail

Don't know about the "child hunger awareness" response, but what's the BFD? Do people think ham, bacon, and sausage come from a tree?

Ppl are so ignorant. They should be outraged by big food corporations but some how their more obvious abuses go on unchecked.
