With the arrival of Swine Southern Table & Bar, Pao Town, and the soon-to-open SushiSamba, the Coral Gables restaurant scene is rapidly expanding. Which is awesome, 'cause you can never have too many options when it comes to lunch, dinner, or happy hour in the City Beautiful.

The newest addition to the neighborhood lineup is BrickTop's, a casual-American-cuisine concept putting down roots this spring at 2418 Ponce de Leon Blvd. The place will serve cocktails, steaks, and burgers, as well as gluten-free options.

The space is still a couple of months from opening, according to general manager Mark Peak, so the menu hasn't been finalized. But a look at the offerings of the other locations reveals items such as deviled eggs and sugar bacon ($10); goat cheese vegetarian flatbread with artichoke, roasted peppers, spinach, wild mushrooms, and red onions ($14); pan-sautéed Chilean sea bass with lemon butter ($30); and "prime meatloaf," made with prime sirloin, Cinderella whipped potatoes, and veggies ($22).

A small chain, the brand has outposts in Atlanta, Charlotte, Naples, and a few other U.S. cities. Peak says menus at the other locations are similar but not identical. One unique item they'll offer at the Gables location is a Cuban sandwich -- sometimes featured as a special at the other spots.

"It's fresh-from-scratch cooking, American cuisine, American classic favorites," Peak says. "Steaks, fresh seafood -- everything we do, we make in-house each day. We focus on friendly service and fresh ingredients daily."

They also plan to offer brunch, but not immediately.

"We have a full bar at the new location, and we'll have patio seating and an outdoor lounge area as well," he adds.

"We chose Coral Gables mostly because it's an incredible site, and we think that what we do would fit in great with South Florida and Miami and the Coral Gables area," Peak says.

The concept's first location opened in Naples in 2006, and the headquarters are in Nashville.

"Coral Gables will be our seventh location. We're planning on opening our eighth location in Palm Beach sometime at the end of this year or the beginning of next," he says.

Note: If you're in the market for a restaurant gig, BrickTop's is hiring for a variety of positions.
