If you're not a fan of melty, golden, cheesy goodness pressed between two slices of toasty bread, you're probably not human. So why are you reading a food blog, android freak?

This widespread love for the classic childhood sammie means Miaimians should be stoked for the Daily Melt, the newest addition to midtown's culinary lineup. As the name implies, the eatery specializes in all things melted -- from tuna and meatballs to white truffle butter and PB&J. And this Friday, you can join New Times for a Daily Melt meetup extravaganza -- free sandwiches included.

The range of savory sandwiches runs the gamut from a veggie-friendly garden melt, with portobello, smoked Gouda, Roma tomato, baby spinach, and basil pesto ($6.95), to the meat-lover's barbecued pulled pork, with pulled pork, Swiss, caramelized onions, and jalapeƱo potato chips ($5.95).

And for those who can't get enough of the dairy deliciousness, score extra cheese (or white truffle butter or bacon) for 99 cents.

This is the second location of the cheesy concept, designed by real estate developer and entrepreneur Gregg Lurie. Lurie teamed up with culinary icon Allen Susser on the project. Allen developed the menu and is also a partner. They've got big plans for the Daily Melt.

"We want to run an entire chain," Lurie says. "I just think there's too many burger places and not enough choices. I've seen a couple of these concepts in my travels; I've seen them pop up."

Lurie's favorite item is the barbecued pulled pork.

And to satisfy your sweet tooth, the place has a rarely seen Coca-Cola Freestyle machine -- a touch-screen soda dispenser that makes more than 100 flavor combos. Plus there are melty desserts.

Sign us up for the s'more, made with charred marshmallow, graham cracker, and Hershey's chocolate ($4.95).

The Real Housewives of Miami star and drag diva Elaine Lancaster even sampled some grilled-cheese goodness at last week's Artopia, and you better believe she watches her figure, so these melted treats must be worth the splurge. The Daily Melt team served sammies to a packed house of 1,800 people at the event.

The shop also offers soup and salad options, but seriously -- you're gonna visit the Daily Melt and stick with lettuce? We'll try not to judge.

The meetup happens from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 8, at 3401 N. Miami Ave., and attendees will score free grilled-cheese sammies and sodas. Say hi if you see us. We'll be the ones with faces full of cheese.
