La Camaronera: Fish-Fry Staple Now Open For Dinner on Fridays and Saturdays
In the past two years, La Camaronera has evolved from simple shrimp shack to full-service, casual restaurant.

In 2012, the 40-year-old West Flagler staple broadened its menu to include non-fried items such as shrimp tacos and fish fillet with rice. Then, this January, the spot expanded its dining room to include tables, waiters, menus, and chairs. Previously, patrons munched on fried oysters and conch fritters while huddled about counters and high tables.
Now, after decades of closing past lunchtime, La Camaronera is launching dinner service on the weekends. As of March 8, the shrimp shop is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
When we last spoke to David Garcia, who owns and operates the restaurant alongside his family, he said La Camaronera will also add a digital point-of-sale system and accept credit cards soon. For the time being though, the seafood joint is still cash-only.
Following the recent announcement of Sam Gorenstein and Roger Duarte's My Ceviche expansion past South Beach to Brickell, it seems Miami is garnering more and more options when it comes to affordable, local seafood. Between Brickell's My Ceviche and West Flagler's La Camaronera, dinner time around the area just got a little less urban, and a little more coastal.
