Serious beer drinkers might have a bit of a bias toward cans. After all, they tend to evoke memories of Natty Light, PBR, and long drunken days in college.

But it's a new day for brews, and cans are emerging as a viable vessel for some of the nation's hottest crafts, from Cigar City to Oskar Blues. April 25 at Total Wine in Pinecrest, you can get schooled in the classic container. Time to leave your bias behind.

Plus, cans really come in handy, and who doesn't love a good coozie?

Attendees to this class will get to sample several brews, nosh on snacks, and learn all about how aluminum is making its mark in the craft beer market.

"The basic presentation is a two-hour format. They sit down to learn about the breweries and a little history on the style of beer. It's usually anywhere from 8 to 12 beers that they sample and write up a tasting sheet on and kind of get familiar on how you taste beer," says Rob of Total Wine.

Snacks will be paired with the brews too. So what's on the lineup?

"Predominately Colorado-based craft beers. They're the ones for the most part that have gone the route of the can. We do have Cigar City; that's the big local beer from Tampa," Rob adds.

Cans are the wave of the future, and for a little chump change, you can find out why. Expanding your beer knowledge is always a wise idea.

The classes cost $15, and you can register online or in the store. "A Good Kick in the Can" runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Total Wine in Pinecrest.
