"I cried when my parents died. I cried when my children were born. The only other time outside of that, that I cried, was when I passed this exam," says an American Master Sommelier on camera.

Somm, a documentary, takes you into the lives of four men who will literally stop at nothing to have their shot of getting the prestigious Court of Master Sommelier diploma. Only 200 people in the world hold the honor of passing the hardest exam that you've never heard of.

Tonight, O Cinema will be premiering the docu-comedy-drama, but it won't be screened for very long.

The film, directed by Jason Wise, has already been widely praised: "The whole thing is much more fun than you'd imagine watching people drink would be..." Seattle Times film critic Moira MacDonald writes in her review. "And by the end, you're surprisingly invested in which of the guys, if any, will pass the final test."

Indeed, the emotional investment into these four oenophiles appears evident.

The story will take you through the perils of training and studying for the Master Sommelier exam, which depicts four men, specifically: Brian McClintic, DLynn Proctor, Dustin Wilson, and Ian Cauble. Together, they study regions and varietals and pairings, as well as countless wine-related words and phrases in five different languages.

The trailer alone is dramatic and thought-provoking. Michael Mina, executive chef behind Bourbon Steak at the Turnberry Isle Resort in Aventura even makes a cameo appearance offering insight on the sommelier's worth in the restaurant industry.

We had the opportunity to screen the docu before its premiere at the theater, but opted out because watching this kind of film on a big screen atop O Cinema's big, comfy couch sounds far more appealing. So, we'll hopefully see you there this weekend. Luckily, O Cinema sells beer and wine at the concession stand, but don't get picky. It probably won't be your average bottle of Gewürztraminer like you'll see in the film.
