The name's changed. The dumplings are the same.
Call the number of the Sunny Isles restaurant that specializes in dim sum and you'll be greeted with, "Chef Ho!"

No, that's not shorthand during busy lunchtime order taking. That's the new name of the restaurant. Chef Philip Ho is now Chef Ho.

According to Jackie Sam, one of the partners at the Sunny Isles Beach place, the restaurant changed ownership back in January 2013, which led to the new name. But, according to Sam, although the partnership and name have changed, not much else has.

"The menu is the same. The managers are the same," says Sam.

So where's chef Philip Ho, the man who worked as the tony Setai's dim sum chef for around five years before opening this Chinese food haven in the northeasten part of Miami-Dade county?

According to Sam, Chef Ho is in the kitchen every morning, preparing the dim sum. "He makes every dumpling by hand, every morning," she notes.

That's good news for fans of the restaurant, which our former critic, Lee Klein, called, "as good as it gets" in an October 2011 review.

The only changes are in the evenings, when chef Lawrence Li takes over the dinner service. The menu has largely remained the same, with chef Li creating some seafood dishes and specials.
