4th Age Brewing is a big winner in Grovetoberfest's home brew competition.
Grovetoberfest is this Saturday, October 19, at Peacock Park in Coconut Grove, giving beer lovers an opportunity to sample over 200 different brews in many categories.

But, out of all the craft porters and IPA's available to sample, the most intriguing beers are always the ones produced by local brew clubs and individuals. After all, with two breweries in the 305 and more on the way, today's home brewers could be the next Wynwood Brewing Company.

Last Thursday, a group of professionals brewers, chefs, and beer geeks met at Gold Coast Distributing's own pub to choose winners in the 2013 Grovetoberfest Home Brew Competition. Beers were judged for taste, color, aroma, and originality in four categories. In addition, a Best of Show beer was named, with the overall winner receiving a home kegging kit, a trophy, and the ability of their beer to be featured in at least one Miami bar or restaurant (to be named at a later date). Category winners receive $50 prize packs and a trophy.
