The Hoxton has closed.
The Hoxton Miami has closed.

Just this year, the lounge was recognized for having the best cocktails in Miami New Times' Best Of issue, but well crafted drinks and a lively atmosphere apparently couldn't keep the two-level lounge/club alive.

The lounge abruptly closed, leaving the following message on Twitter:

According to a public relations representative, the Hoxton was recently sold by Vassili Group LLC to an undisclosed buyer. The closing of the "urban beach house" was deemed "an investment decision." Box Park was not sold and will remain open. No further information is known.

An anonymous source tells us that Hoxton employees were given no notice as to the closing of the mega lounge. Indeed, as early as yesterday, the Hoxton was touting its big vampire ball and zombie apocalypse parties:

Miami is a low income city.  All these places will close.  Everybody reads the wrong income figures.

There is a new place going in on 1900 block of nw Miami ct. House something or other it is called. Looks like it will slop up the remains of this place. Btw, to the promoters, 1900 nw Miami ct is overtown, not wynwood or midtown. Just go with it. B e a groundbreaker not a follower.

Too Bad, So Sad! Don't let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out of Brickell, Hoxton and staff.(esp. the weird guys they had just sitting outside parking cars). I'm glad to see this place go. Living in Brickell I had to walk past this place almost nightly on my way to anywhere in the surrounding area. Any given night there was some lousy DJ spinning who knows whut Uhntz-Uhntz-Uhntz bro music. I had never been inside but just passing by the palce and seeing the overly tarted up women standing outside turned me off from the place. It's sad that in Miami that a good neighborhood  seems to equate to having nothing but these types of venues. Attracting the lowest forms of yuppie I'm better than you larva. Now that I won't get eyed up everynight by some goofy looking group of meatheads sititng outside waiting to park cards I can stroll my neighborhood in peace! I'm really hoping now that this over priced/over dressed Miami sterotpye is gone it will eb replaced with something a lil different. Brickell already has it's share of High and mighty look at me venues. Give us some fucking variety!

I could care less about some useless Yuppy bar charging $15 for over-rated cocktails.

The causeway crowd can keep Brick CIty.

It was bound to happen. Hoxton followed the typical life cycle of a business not managed well: Big investment, advertised as some high-end lounge and resto; After a while disappointing sales, so bring in the DJ and promoters, forget about initial concept; Promoters take all profits, now bring in salsa night, comedy, anything to get people through the door... Slam! Goodbye. Hoxton that closed had nothing to do with Hoxton that opened, completely different prostituted concept. I am sure sales for Kukaramakara and Baru will go up since they shared clientele.

Most restaurants don't give their staff notice when they close. I've seen this happen before -- Southwest New York and Bice Grand Cafe did it back in 2007
