J. Wakefield Brewing announced yesterday that it now has a place to call home. The brewery will be located in Wynwood.
J. Wakefield Brewing Co.
This is the third brewery confirmed in the district in less than two months. Wynwood will soon be a concrete jungle of vibrant graffiti art with a river of beer flowing through it.

Owner Johnathan Wakefield has not said where it will be located, but he did confirm that he has secured a location. Construction for the brewing equipment and tap room will begin immediately.
Update: The brewing facility will be located in a 5,400 square foot space located at 120 NW 24th Street.
Wakefield recently finished a Crowdbrewed campaign and raised over $112,000 -- twice as much as his original goal of $55,000. Contributors will be rewarded for their investments, and proceeds will go towards equipment purchases and the tap room's construction.
Thirsty with anticipation, dedicated fans in Miami have been waiting for this news for nearly two years. During this time, Wakefield has made appearances at festivals and tap takeovers throughout South Florida.
He stands out among area brewers with his penchant for brewing his signature Florida Weisses, or low-alcohol beers, and sours brewed with locally-grown tropical fruit. His most well-known recipe is the "DFPF" -- the dragon fruit-passion fruit-Berliner Weisse. He has gained a cult following over the years, one that includes established craft brewer Greg Koch of Stone Brewing Company:
No timeline on when J. Wakefield Brewing Company will be open for business. If all goes well, Wynwood should see its next brewery completed sometime in 2014.
