Where to Eat Christmas Dinner in Miami
If you're not into eating A Christmas Story-style Chinese dinner on Jesus' birthday, not to worry, there are plenty of other places to get good grub.
kristin_a Flickr/cc You've got to make a meal out of more than just Christmas cookies.
Although if you are into Chinese, we've got a list for that, too. But for the rest of y'all, here's a rundown of where you can get a good meal on Christmas Day. Cooked by someone else, natch.
Toro Toro Miami
This downtown eatery is serving up a family-style dinner from 6 to 11 p.m. For $50 per person, you'll get edibles like their signature chopped salad -- chayote, edamame, queso fresco, crispy pork belly, roasted corn, crispy tortilla and sherry vinaigrette; ground lamb anticucho skewers with garlic-yogurt sauce, pickled cucumbers and mint; parmesan crusted sea scallops with toasted bread crumbs and lemon butter sauce; honey chipotle ham; adobo turkey, braised short rib and sides such as arroz congri and roasted sweet potatoes. For dessert, traditional tres leches and churros. The restaurant will also feature a signature Christmas cocktail, the Ponche Navidendo ($8) -- blanco tequila, red apple, mango, raisins, cranberries, pineapple, brown sugar, and cinnamon. For reservations, call (305) 372-4710 or visit ToroToroMiami.com.
SushiSamba Miami Beach and Coral Gables
If Asian eats sound like an appealing alternative, you can score a la carte specials on Christmas eve and Christmas day. These include the Holiday Flip cocktail ($13) -- Pisco Portón, 10-year aged port, maple syrup, chocolate bitters and an egg, dusted with fresh black pepper. To eat: roasted cauliflower with charred scallion, Fuji-apple glaze and lemongrass air; duck confit salad with pickled pear, candied cashew, baby watercress and wasabi-fig dressing; and robata lamb shank with parsnip purée, grilled scallion and Japanese parsley. For sweet stuff, an eggnog tres leite -- pisco, coconut, cranberry gelée, gingerbread tuile, and vanilla bean ice cream. Call 305-673-5337 for reservations at the Miami Beach location, 305-448-4900 for Coral Gables.
Quattro Gastronomia Italiana
In addition to their regular lineup, this Italian outpost will have a menu of truffle-infused offerings on Christmas eve and Christmas day. First, antipasti: Fontina cheese fondue with poached egg yolk and toasted Biova croutons; and filet mignon tartare with parmigiano reggiano. As a first course: "Langhe" tagliolini in Italian butter sauce and risotto with Piemontese toma cheese. Second: thinly-sliced beef tenderloin with porcini mushrooms and veal scaloppini with truffle butter sauce and truffle fries. Holiday hours will be noon - midnight. Call (305) 531-4833 or visit Quattromiami.com for reservations.
SUGARCANE raw bar grill
Midtown's mod tapas spot will be serving up a Christmas Cocktail ($13) made with pressed apple cider, spiced rum, cinnamon, hibiscus tea, and anise. For dinner, there'll be á la carte selections including boudin blanc with mustard seeds, black truffles and smoked apple chutney; roasted suckling pig with braised Swiss chard, potato purée and garlic mojo; and pan seared striped sea bass with watercress purée, Florida sturgeon caviar and roasted eggplant. For dessert, a unique take on a classic treat -- the Christmas ice cream sandwich, made with gingerbread cookies, eggnog ice cream and winter spiced caramel.
