Miami's Best Eats and Drinks This Weekend: Beer, Brunch, and the Best Manhattan
You've survived another long workweek, and the weekend is just around the corner. Better bundle up, because you won't want to stay indoors and watch movies with a can of soup. There are plenty of activities, from eating and drinking on camera to partaking in beer-related events (including South Florida Beer Week and a rousing game of competitive beer pong).
Laine Doss Time to eat for the camera -- again!
The weekend will end on a historical note with the celebration of Martin Luther King Day (followed, of course, by brunch).
Eat Street Filming at South Florida Breweries
Love food trucks and beer? It's time to share what you do best (eating and drinking) with the world -- by doing it on camera. Eat Street, the Cooking Channel series that celebrates truly "fast food," is back in South Florida to film at two breweries -- and producers are looking for people to eat on camera.
Tonight, Friday, January 17, Eat Street films Palate Party at Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park, beginning at 7 p.m. (You're requested to get there at 6 p.m. if you want to be on camera.)
On Saturday, January 18, Eat Street films Il Fiorentino at J. Wakefield Brewing Company at 1 p.m. (If you want to be on camera, get there by noon.)
South Florida Beer Week
South Florida Beer Week officially begins Saturday, January 18, with celebrations, dinners, and tap takeovers all over South Florida. Locales from the Keys to Jupiter will be all about beer. There are hundreds of events, such as the South Florida beer tap takeover at Barley & Swine Gastropub, where you can sample 18 local brews all week long. Or take a South Florida road trip without even leaving your neighborhood. At LoKal in Cocount Grove, you'll receive a "Road Trip Card." Drink your way through Florida by enjoying offerings from Cigar City, Funky Buddha, and others. Fill the card and get a free pint glass at the end of the week!
