Miami's Best Chefs Preview Taste of the Nation Event
Miami's best chefs gathered at Tongue & Cheek last night for a "taste" of Taste of the Nation, the mega fundraising gala that benefits Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign.

Led by Taste of the Nation's founding chairman, Allen Susser, a cadre of South Florida culinary powerhouses like Jamie DeRosa, Todd Erickson, Paula DaSilva, Bret Pelaggi, Frederick Delaire, and TImon Balloo each presented a dish that represented their favorite childhood food.
Before guests savored lobster corn dogs, sloppy joes, macaroni and cheese, and Cracker Jack milkshakes, chef Allen Susser talked about the fact that many children in our community don't receive the proper nutrition to succeed in school. "Without a good diet, they don't do well in school and they get sick more often." The No Kid Hungry campaign provides nutritious food for kids and teaches their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals.
Not-so-sloppy, these char siu "sloppy joe" buns were a hit with the crowd.
Taste of the Nation South Florida, featuring over 50 of our city's best chefs, mixologists, and restaurants, takes place Tuesday, June 17 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. Tickets are $125 each; special VIP tickets allowing access to the event at 6 p.m. are $250. A Black & Blanco after party, featuring Tequila Casa Dragones is $75. Cracker Jack milkshakes and house-made Baby Ruth bars brought us back to the playground.
