Jugofresh Hires In-House Health Expert to Educate Customers

Jugofresh has its own nutrition expert on staff.
For all its body worship, Miami isn't exactly the healthiest city. Maybe it's our penchant for partying into the next day or our lust for pork, but Miami was ranked 26th on the 2014 American Fitness Index of Top 50 fittest cities (behind Chicago and Pittsburgh).

So maybe it's time for a new habit. Jugofresh, the cold-pressed-juice company that debuted in 2012 and is quickly taking over Miami one juice (and shop) at a time, has gone one step further in making Miami a bit healthier.

The company has brought on yoga and integrative nutrition expert Rachel Novetsky as its resident health expert to train staff and educate clients. Her primary role will be providing continuous education to employees and customers and will assist staff in helping answer any questions related to food, nutrition, cleanses, diets, and food restrictions. That means Novetsky, along with founder Matt Sherman, will be able to answer all food- and diet-related questions and can even act as a coach on a case-by-case basis for customers in need of a support system -- which means that customers with even the most unhealthy lifestyle can get their act cleaned up.

In addition, the holistic health professional will help create new cleanses and research new ingredient options.

Novetsky is a world traveler, having studied everywhere from Tel Aviv to London, and has a holistic health certification from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. She also created I Heart Health, a personalized health and life-coaching program. She will work primarily out of the Jugofresh headquarters in Lemon City.

Since the company's inception, Sherman and chef Darren Laszo have created the recipes for the flavor combinations in the company's test kitchen. Adding Novetsky to the team is the next step in the company's approach to making foods and juices that are a healthful alternative to most daily options. Sherman explains, "Rachel and I have been friends for years, and I've been looking for the right way to work with her. As we grow, I can't focus the same attention I have on the past to educating our customers and staff, and I couldn't think of a better person to fill those shoes." New menu items that include Novetsky's recommendations will become available throughout the summer.

Maybe by next year, Miami will move up (or at least beat Chicago) on that fit-city index.
