Police responded after receiving a call from his roommate. It is unclear whether the roommate was at home when Salgar was killed.

Family members identified the victim as Salgar, 31.

Salgar was a talented musician and member of the close-knit Miami bartending community, working at some of the best bars in Miami, including Sra. Martinez, Gramps, and the Broken Shaker. The Broken Shaker, which opened as a pop-up in January 2012, took the Miami bar scene by storm with its commitment to crafted cocktails with house-made bitters, quality spirits, and home-grown herbs. Though the bartending community has always been strong, the Shaker provided the spark to create a cadre of talented mixologists who cared about their work -- and one another.

Broken Shaker co-owner Gabriel Orta's Facebook post reflected the sentiments of the entire Miami bartender community with the words, "I am shocked. Love you, brother."

Best Bartender 2014, Julio Cabrera, paid tribute to Salgar on Facebook, calling him the "king of cool."

Gramps in Wynwood also left a fitting tribute for the young bartender, saying that "lives have been made more joyous, magical, musical, and savory because of you."

Gabe Orta just issued a statement on his Facebook page, stating that Salgar was "full of passion, laughter, and charisma." Orta invites friends of Salgar's to celebrate his legacy at the Broken Shaker with some mezcal. Ska and punk rock will be played in his honor.

Police have not yet identified a motive and do not have any suspects in custody. They are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.

UPDATE: Police have cordoned off a portion of Palm Beach near the Breakers Hotel after finding an abandoned car with a bloody shirt inside. WPTV reports that investigators believe it might be related to Monday's fatal shooting and are urging residents to stay inside while SWAT and K-9 units search the area.
