Panther Coffee Opening in Little Haiti

Panther Coffee is opening its third location, in Little Haiti.

Leticia Pollock just confirmed the news that Panther Coffee will open a combination roaster, training facility, and coffee shop at the former Cecibon Pikliz bakery on the corner of NW 59th Terrace and Second Ave., saying, "We just got the building and we're super excited."

Although Pollock was still drawing up plans for the 3,000-square-foot space, she confirmed that there will be indoor and outdoor seating, with the floor plan split between wholesale and retail operations.

The Pollocks, who opened their flagship Wynwood location in 2011 and a second Miami Beach shop a year ago, are convinced Little Haiti is ripe for a specialty coffee shop, noting that a lot of their artist friends and customers are moving to the neighborhood from Wynwood, Edgewater, and Buena Vista due to rising rents. "The prices have gone up so much. We're seeing a lot of friends living in Little Haiti. We really think it's the next place to be."

The Little Haiti location should open within the next six to eight months, with a Panther Coffee opening in the MiMo District in the next 12 to 18 months. But the husband and wife duo are planning their growth slowly and strategically, noting that they're staggering the openings in order to make sure staff members are trained properly and quality is consistent. "As we expand, we it to be slow enough to maintain the quality. Anyone that goes to any Panther Coffee will find that the culture and the experience is consistent."

The location is on NW 2nd Avenue and yes it is kind-a-dead.  Also it is Liberty City.
