Meatless eaters and veg-curious foodies are counting down the days until the city's first plant-based extravaganza, Seed Food & Wine Festival. And to add to the anticipation, the five-day festival, kicking off in October, just announced some major additions to its lineup.

The official participants now include all-star chefs, bestselling authors, and renowned athletes. Check out the new opt-ins after the jump.

The roster now includes Matthew Kenney Cuisine, an endeavor of the two-time James Beard Award nominee, entrepreneur, bestselling cookbook author, and culinary educator; Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby, 2014 James Beard Award nominees and owners of the renowned Philadelphia restaurant Vedge; Brendan Brazier, a two-time Canadian 50k Ultra Marathon Champion and author of the bestselling Thrive cookbook series; and Mark Reinfeld, an award-winning chef, author, and activist.

"We never thought that we could secure our dream team in the first year, but apparently dreams do come true," cofounder Michelle Gaber says. "We've been so surprised and blessed about the response to the festival, not just locally but nationally. Specifically the lineup we've already announced, and we're still working -- we have a couple other big-name, plant-based authorities we're speaking to and hopefully we'll secure."

The schedule so far includes a film screening, a VIP cocktail party, two special chef dinners, a beachside brunch, a kids' event, and the main event -- festival day in midtown Miami.

"We're such huge fans of Matthew Kenney and Rich and Brendan," cofounder Alison Burgos says. "They've been a real inspiration in our journey to living healthier and more consciously, and we're just so excited for them to share their work, their passion, and their knowledge with the patrons who attend Seed."

Attendees can expect other surprises as the festival date creeps closer.

Tickets to Seed go on sale July 15, with prices ranging from $10 to $125 per event. There will also be an all-inclusive VIP experience for $375. Proceeds from the ancillary events will be donated to Farm Sanctuary and the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). The festival will run from October 15 through 19.
