National Filet Mignon Day: $1 Steak Sandwiches at Morton's the Steakhouse
However, someone somewhere decided August 13 would be National Filet Mignon Day, and to recognize this unofficial holiday, Morton's the Steakhouse is selling filet mignon sandwiches today for only $1 apiece. The one-buck sandwiches will be served in the restaurant's bar area.
Filet mignon, meaning "petite fillet," is a small round steak cut from the forward end of the tenderloin. The tenderloin is a nonweight-bearing muscle and is the tenderest cut of beef. It's considered the most desirable and is usually the most expensive cut of beef.
"We look forward to commemorating this day with diners at any of our over 70 locations
across the country," said Tim Whitlock, senior vice president of operations for Morton's. "We hope our customers will enjoy this special discount and share the experience with family and friends."
Morton's is a part of Houston-based Landry's Inc., which also owns restaurants such as Rainforest Café and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. The first Morton's opened in Chicago in 1978 and now has 73 locations globally.
The deal is one day only, all day during Morton's dining hours. Be sure to celebrate this holiday by eating as many as you possibly can. After all, they cost only a buck.
