Mitt Romney is in Miami.
Mitt Romney, apparently, can't get enough of pastelitos and Miami.

The former governor of Massachusetts and presidential candidate will join congressional candidate Carlos Curbelo at Vicky Bakery at 12300 SW 127th Ave. in Kendall this afternoon for a few pastries and a photo op.

According to Vicky Bakery manager Ariel Urena, Curbelo and Romney will stop by the bakery at 3:30 p.m. for a walk-through and news conference. Urena said Romney is scheduled to speak to some of the bakery's employees about how America can be a better place.

Curbelo is a conservative Republican running in the 26th Congressional District. The Miami-Dade County School Board member is a Kendall resident. According to Curbelo's communications director, Wadi Gaitan, he's seeking to "bring common-sense solutions to build a better economy for the people of South Florida."

The event is open to the public.

Gaitan said the two politicians will get a tour of the bakery by Vicky Bakery owner Yvette Cao. Although this is one of the larger facilities in the Miami-based chain, the public will not be invited in the back during the factory tour. However, political junkies will be able to hear Romney and Curbelo speak with employees, followed by a short news conference, also open to the public.

In addition, there will be baked goods. As Gaitan put it: "We don't want the story to be that people just stared at the baked goods."

Although there's been some mumbling in the media that Romney might seek another shot at the White House in 2016, the governor has firmly denied the rumors, although he's been hitting the campaign trails of Republican congressional candidates throughout the nation.

Gaitan said Romney will be in Kendall to support the young congressional hopeful after the two built a relationship. "He made an endorsement last week, I believe. Now Governor Romney is coming out to the district to hear from the people."
