AltaMare Introduces New Interior and Oyster-Heavy Happy Hour

Sea-themed touch-ups at AltaMare on Lincoln Road.
With plenty of fish in the sea, options are plentiful -- finding that special catch is no easy task. Miami isn't lacking seafood restaurants, but there are some that keep themselves well hidden. Take AltaMare, the Italian-inspired "hook-to-table" seafood joint that's d├ęcor exudes an pretentious air but the food is down-to-earth, or in this case, sea.

AltaMare isn't new -- Claudio Giordano and wife Kaituska are celebrating a 12-year run. In 2010, they moved down the block into a bigger space due to the demand for Giordano's fresh daily specials and house-made pasta. Four years later, and for the first time ever, the restaurant is offering a happy hour. It's their way of celebrating their revamped dining room and one step closer to lunch service, which we hope AltaMare will one day brave.

Happy-hour beers.
What are the two best words in the English language? No, not "free money" (although we'll take that). It's "happy hour."

For us workers of the world, happy hour is the one thing we have to look forward to. It's a chance to take a break after work and toss back a few with friends. But even though most bars and restaurants offer some kind of deal, all happy hours are not created equal.

We've done our research (which involved spending many weeknights at bars munching on chicken wings and drinking draft beer and house wines) and come up with a list of the ten best happy hours in Miami.

From killer views to extended menus, these are the places offering the best bang for your buck -- both food- and drink-wise.

This could be you with $100 tab.
Our Miami Heat did some work against the Indian Pacers in game four of the Eastern Conference Finals, closing out the game 90 to 102. We are just one game away from making it to the NBA Finals for the fourth consecutive time in a row, and that game is tonight.

To celebrate, Duffy's is giving a $100 bar tab to one Short Order reader to cash in on their recently renovated pool deck. The revamped pool deck is equipped with lounge-style seating, vivid lighting, and tropical tiki torches. The bar tab is good for Game Six, this Friday, May 30, at the North Miami Beach location. If for any reason the Heat don't make it to Game Six, the tab will be honored during the first game of the NBA Finals. To win, just tell us why the Heat will beat the Pacers in the comments below. Be sure to include a valid email address or Twitter handle so we can contact you. We'll pick our favorite answer and announce it by Thursday morning at 9 a.m.

We talked to senior general manager Mark Wampole about the new deck, why Duffy's is the number one spot for game time, how they prepare for game nights, and what special surprises they're rolling out for the finals.
