At Exxxotica in Miami Beach, which ended Sunday, girls swayed on giant wooden swing-sets hanging from the ceiling and moved slowly around strategically placed poles. Endless shelves were filled with sex toys, and simulated acts occurred around you at any given time.

It seems total attention was given to boobs and leather chaps by the event's directors, because the food was sub-par. Then again, you weren't there for the penis ice pops or fried onion rings.

Luckily, the starlets signing autographs for dumbstruck workin' stiffs, happen to get their Miami food elsewhere. And some of them were gracious enough to put down the pens, and let us know where they dine and what they order when they are here.

Bo Leg's BBQ: Comfort Food in a Parking Lot

The smoke is as thick as a summer storm cloud. Even with windows rolled up, the unmistakable scent of barbecue seeps through the finest cracks of air-tight cars jockeying to get into the Foxy Lady Laundry parking lot along 167th St. in North Miami Beach. Enormous custom-built charcoal grills anxiously await slabs of ribs and chicken while a team of barbecue pit-masters preps the fiery racks.

This family-run barbecue is headed by patriarch Kevin Dority, also known as "Bo Legs", who has a physical trait of having, well, bowed legs. His main focus, however, is his gift to locals: cooking some mean Southern comfort grub.

Roasted corn, mac 'n' cheese, white potatoes with mozzarella and homemade baked beans -- Bo's signature side made with maple, honey, molasses and ground chuck are a few of the Dixie staples that brew in Bo's blood.

Churchill's Curry Wednesdays Are an Unexpected Treat

Churchill's Pub in Little Haiti is a lot of things to a lot of people - pub, dive saloon, sports bar, last bastion of "real" aka analog music, and so on. To scores of rugby and soccer fans, usually English, Irish, or Australian, it's also a great place for some grub. We Americans need to get on the bandwagon.

For as long as I can remember, folks have flocked to Churchill's for the curry ($6.00 - $8.00). Curry Wednesdays used to provide white rice and different curries via buffet, but now you order your meal and it is served to you. Portions are still plentiful and it is highly unlikely that you will get to taste authentic English-style curry and Indian curry together in any other restaurant in Florida. More importantly, there are now two additional items that will rock your world.

Josh Del Valle is fresh from the big city. The line cook made the move from NYC to Miami just four months ago to rub shoulders with Michelle Bernstein. He has a boyish charm and culinary finesse. But before attending The French Culinary Institute, the 27-year-old mixed beats in Long Island and served up peanuts as a flight attendant. Today he prepares the delicious cold tapas everyone worships at Sra. Martinez.

New Times: So, what brought you to Miami?

Josh DeI Valle: I came straight down to work with Michelle Bernstein.

And how do you like Miami so far?

What's not to like. My goal was to come and find myself here.

What is your favorite cocktail?

The Sra. Martinez sangria. It is excellent.

What is your favorite dish served at Sra. Martinez?

The pan con tomate. It's so simple. It's just really good olive oil, tomatoes and sea salt. Michelle is all about flavor and with these elements, when it's done right, it's so good.

Veronica Gessa is a sassy and well accessorized Mercadito hostess. She's of Cuban descent and is a Miami native.The spunky 21-year old lures in patrons nightly with her long black hair and sultry dark eyes. And she boasts a confidence level only seen in locals. As she stands at the entrance of the eatery, pretty much everyone flirts with her. But the vibrant hostess just shoots them smiles and seats the next party.

New Times: How long have you worked at Mercadito?

Veronica Gessa: My first night was Cinco de Mayo. I was baptized by fire.

What is your favorite cocktail? Mercadito's little market. It's made with tequila reposada, fresh pineapple, chile guajillo and pico piquin. It's refreshing and fruity but the tequila retains its flavor.

What is your favorite Mercadito entrée?

The Chile relleno. It's a poblano stuffed with seafood.

What do you think is the sexiest item on the menu?

Mecadito's big nose goes to Mexico. They light it on fire and that's hot. And all of the ceviches are sexy.

Amy Lee Frankian buys her customers shots. Then she bats her green eyes, cracks a smile, and twirls a few liquor bottles. Minutes later, enticed patrons request rounds for her and the rest of the bar. The scene repeats every night. The 25-year-old bartender is originally from Rhode Island. She moved to South Florida four years ago. Frankian consistently lures Mary Brickell Village dwellers to Blue Martini. She's a perfectly groomed prankster who serves up jokes and strong cocktails. And she does it all while wearing her ultra-snug baby-blue corset.

New Times: What is your favorite cocktail?

Amy Lee Frankian: Of course, the Blue Martini here. It's made with Van Gogh vodka, blue curaçao, Citronge, sour mix, and orange juice. I also like to drink vodka sodas with lime.

Do you get hit on while at work?

Of course. Yes. I've been proposed to a few times.

Hot Plates: Catalina Naranjo at Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill

Catalina Naranjo is a 22-year old Colombian server at Sugarcane in Midtown. She works alongside Ale Ordriozola, who was featured in last week's Hot Plates. The two are often mistaken as sisters. But unlike her Sugarcane compadre, Naranjo leads a double life. She's a vivacious Sugarcane server by day and a musician by night. Her genre of choice: alt rock laced with pop. The former contestant of Univision's Nuestra Belleza Latina is currently signed with label BMI.

New Times: What is your favorite cocktail?

Catalina Naranjo: The mojitos at Sugarcane. We make them from scratch here and they go well with our entire menu. 

What is the sexiest item on the Sugarcane menu?

The oysters. Oysters are sexy. They are something you can enjoy while having a conversation. And they are supposed to be an aphrodisiac. 

What is it that makes Sugarcane sexy?

The atmosphere and the lounge feeling to it. And there is always music playing. It's casual yet elegant. Everyone wants to be here.

Meet Ale Ordriozola, a curvy 24-year-old server at Sugarcane in Midtown. She once attracted attention at Meat Market on Lincoln Road, but has been with Sugarcane in Midtown since it opened in January. The curvy server of Venezuelan, Cuban and Peruvian descent makes her unisex uniform sexy, accenting it with a teal streak in her hair and funky accessories. She also keeps her Levi's snug and allows for the tattoo on her chest to peep past her crisp white collar. 


New Times: What is your favorite cocktail?


Ale Ordriozola: The Spice of Love at Sugarcane. It's made with muddled jalapeños, mango and passion fruit. It's spicy and sweet. What else could you want?


What is the sexiest item on the Sugarcane menu?


The Scallop Crudo. It's made with Fiji apple, scallops, minced black truffle, lime juice, lime zest and jalapeños. You feel all of the layers in your mouth, all of the different flavors.
